Viorst, J., & Cruz, R. (1972). Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. New York: Atheneum.
Nothing seems to going right for Alexander today. He wishes he could go to Australia, where he
believes none of the terrible, horrible things would happen, but is he
mistaken? Maybe some days are just meant to be a little bad.
This book has black and white illustrations that resemble a colored pencil sketch. I think that this book provides a lot of outlets for creative writing assignments and could be a mentor text for adjectives as seen in the title. This theme of having a bad day is also very important to discuss in the elementary classroom to ensure that every day will not be perfect, but together as a class we will get through it :)
