The Llama who had no Pajama
by: MaryAnn Hoberman illustrated by: Betty Fraser
Hoberman, M., & Fraser, B. (1998). The Llama who had no Pajama. Orlando: Harcourt.
Mary Anna Hoberman collected 100 of her favorite poems that she had written and compiled them to create this masterpiece. Each poem tells a unique tale focusing on the experiences that exist during childhood. I liked this poem because of the alliteration, rhyme, repetition, and the variety of topics are able to appeal to many students and content areas.
The humor within some of the poems is also worth noting. Her language is creative and makes the reader think and imagine what is going on within each poem. Some poems would be fun to act out and make the students have some kinesthetic learning with this reading.
